Hi Friend,
Welcome to the very first Soapbox Newsletter. Whether you’ve been to one of our events, or you signed up because you’re interested in our future events, it’s great to have you!
Our next event is on May 30th at Sierra Metro where you can come and meet like minded folk who freelance or are employed in culture, creative, tech & digital for a morning of blethering and sharing news and opportunities over a cuppa. Soapbox events are free, and you are invited to pop along any time between 8am and 10am. Whether you stay for 10 minutes or the full 2 hour duration is totally up to you!
Our main goal with Soapbox is to help rebuild communities that were fractured due to the pandemic with welcoming in-person events. This letter is our long form content home, from us to you. We’d love to share more stories of what is happening in our community along with who makes up our community. We not only want to create Soapbox for you, but with you.
If you’ve been following along on our instagram stories, you’ll know we post daily about jobs, opportunities & events that are happening in and around our community. Here are 3 that we really wanted to shout out about:
This exhibition from Ploterre which has it’s closing event this Sunday 28th
Lighthouse Books are having their first ever Romance Fiction Festival on June 25th
Bothy Project have announced their open call for their latest partnership residency with Visual Arts Scotland! Deadline for applications is June 25th!
To round off our first newsletter, here are some things we wanted to share:
Something good: This Ted Talk
Something to try: 100 Days Project starts in June, and it’s a great way to spend some more time being creative over the summer.
Thanks for taking the time to read this newsletter! We hope to see you at our next event if you’re local, and in the meantime please feel free to share The Soapbox Newsletter if you enjoyed it.
Until next time,
Team Soapbox
