August 2024 Edition: A new location, fringe recommendations, community events and the next Story Sessions 🫧
Good Morning pals,
Welcome to The Soapbox Newsletter! It’s August and we have a brand new event space for our upcoming Blether & Gather; Leith Community Croft Cafe. It’s on John’s Place just off the Leith Links, and I’m really looking forward to welcoming you all. Taking place on Wednesday 28th August (that’s one week today) between 8am and 10am. Grab your free tickets here.
I’d love to see you there!
Updates:
How has your Summer been? I’m sat looking after my friends’ dog thinking about the fact that, at the time of writing this, I’ve only got 23 days left of the 100 days project I started at the beginning of June, and I can’t believe we’re zooming towards the end of August already. There are a few exciting things in the pipeline for Soapbox, firstly (as you’ll have read above) we have a brand new location for our Blether and Gather events. Leith Community Croft Cafe has a gorgeous events space that will allow us to spill out in to the garden - fingers crossed the weather is sunny!
The second thing is that I’m hosting another Story Sessions event at Tribe Porty on August 30th. If this is your first time hearing about The Story Sessions - it’s an evening of Storytelling hosted by Soapbox & Tribe Porty; an invitation to gather, to connect, to be inspired, to be heard, to tell, and to listen to real people sharing real stories.
This month our theme is Friendship - anecdotes, memories, good times and bad, break-ups, shake-ups, staying in touch, and how we even make friends in the first place.
Join us at Tribe Porty on August 30th from 6pm. Tickets are free, although donations/pay-what-you-can is welcome to feed back in to our communities. Suggested donation is £5. Grab yours via the link in bio.
